Kate Miller has been a writer all her working life (and before – she had her first poem published when she was 10 and can still recite the first verse…) and has extensive experience in both creative writing and journalism.
2012 The Last Witch, directed by Richard Syms, produced by Pins & Feathers Productions; performed at Hertford Theatre (www.hertfordtheatre.com ) and as outdoor theatre at Walkern Hall, near Stevenage, Herts.
2011 The Noose of Light, a one act play about Edward Fitzgerald, the 19th century poet, scholar and eccentric, famous for his translation of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Directed by Graham Curry, produced by WriteOn, performed at the ADC Theatre Cambridge.
2010 Circlemakers, a short radio comedy set in a crop circle, broadcast on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. Directed by Faith Collingwood, produced by Menagerie Theatre, Cambridge, as part of their Echoes of the East programme. 2005 Another Fine Mess, a comedy about two hapless Laurel and Hardy fans, directed by Ken Boyter, performed at Queen Mother Theatre, Hitchin, Herts.
2000 Shipton Blank, one of five winners in Equity/Writers’ Guild/ Directors’ Guild competition. Performed in showcase festival at Riverside Studios, London; director Amanda Hill.
1992 A Tin of Talcum Powder, a short radio play broadcast on LBC; director Tim Crook. One of a season of plays that won a Sony radio award.
1990 The Splintered Heart, based on Hans Christian Anderson’s The Snow Queen, produced at Pentameters Theatre, London by Tria Theatre Company; director Sarah-Jane Wren.
Kate started as an advertising copywriter for a small agency in Covent Garden and then trained as a sub-editor at Local Government Chronicle, a national weekly news magazine. As a freelance journalist, she wrote features for The Times, The Guardian, The Stage and the TES, specialising in finance and politics, and also researched and wrote publications for national housing charity Shelter. She was Managing Editor for several years of a group of magazines published by a professional institute.
Kate also worked with Julian Richer, founder of Richer Sounds, top businessman and customer service guru, on his books: The Richer Way (a bestseller with average customer review five stars on Amazon) and Richer on Leadership.
